The ALSO Foundation

The Foundation was set up in January 2025 to promote participation in the arts. We passionately believe opportunities in the arts should be readily available and accessible to everyone and aim to provide this in several different ways:

  • Events - live and online delivered year round.
  • Workshops and classes.
  • Collaborative projects for the general public to come and create together.
  • Community outreach - extending the programme to schools, colleges, libraries and community centres.
  • Inclusive access - including free carer tickets, audio transcription and sign-language interpretation.
  • Volunteering - opportunities for the public to get hands-on experience, up-skill and be part of a creative community.

Projects

Smag På Dig Selv @ ALSO2025

ALSO Future Music is a development programme that targets a diverse range of early-career artists looking to build experience. It offers developmental workshops with industry professionals, marketing and promotion, help adapting performance for outdoor events and experience performing to a festival audience.

Completed Projects
ALSO Women in Sound 2025

The Foundation's 'Women in Sound' initiative nurtures early-career female sound engineers and performers with a skills-based workshop run by an industry professional leading to work experience in a festival environment.

Completed Projects
BookClub.LIVE

BookClub.LIVE celebrates the positive social role the Book Club plays in people's lives by hosting a free evening with a recently published author, and inviting book clubs in the region to host their monthly get-together at the event. The aim in doing this is to connect readers with authors and foster community around the written word.

Throughout the year, the Foundation runs a series of community build weekends where volunteers get together and share skills to design, build and decorate visual elements used for the annual ALSO Festival. The programme attracts a wide range of participants from school-leavers to retirees all of whom benefit working alongside a professional team of designers and artisans.
